I am absolutely stoked to advise that following support from the majority of Councillors at the January Council meeting for my amendment to introduce live streaming of our meetings, the technology was installed and made available earlier than initially planned.
This is a fantastic step forward in opening up Council to all of our residents and ratepayers and provides absolute transparency of the Council process. Council minutes are often paraphrased and this video implementation allows our community access to a true and accurate record of what has taken place.
The February meeting was streamed live for the first time, and two days later an archive of the video was made available on the Monash Council website. The archive section allows residents and ratepayers to select agenda items they are interested in, and jump to that part of the video with a click of a button.
The link for live streaming is http://webcast.monash.vic.gov.au
