I am very excited and honoured to have last night been elected Mayor of the City of Monash for the next twelve months.
When I was elected Mayor for the first time, at the end of 2019, I had a grand vision on what I was going to achieve over that period, but, like for many of you, COVID-19 put a screeching halt to that. It was an extraordinary experience dealing with the many daily challenges that the pandemic brought with it.
As we start to emerge from the destruction that was the past 18 months, I am eagerly looking forward to getting out in the community and meeting many of you as we re-discover our love and passion for each other and the many community organisations to which we belong.
Congratulations to first time Deputy Mayor Tina Samardzija. Cr Samardzija is an incredibly passionate Mulgrave local who I know will be excellent in the role over the next twelve months.
